Graphic/Meeting Facilitation

27 Jun 2013 1:58 PM | Marcie Van Note

On June 13 Joan McIntosh presented a full day of training on Graphic and Meeting Facilitation.  Participants had a great time and learned many valuable tools.  My best take away was learning how to draw "star people" and that our minds work in images, not words.

What was your biggest take-away?

This is the second time I had an opportunity to learn with Joan McIntosh. Some of my biggest takeaways included using chalk to give my flipcharts more color, using graphics when recording participant feedback, using large poster paper to allow participants to graph and draw their insights and takeaways, strong bullet points on a flipchart are forgiving, how to draw basic lines and shapes, the right colors to use and that visualization makes people smarter.

As someone who considered herself "graphically challenged" and knows the power of images in the brain, I found a great deal of value throughout the day. I appreciated the specific practice exercises - I can draw a perfect circle now - the use of multiple types of media on charts, star people and more. Joan really delivered value!
