    It's time to start thinking about preparing for the CPLP!

    The testing window starts on November 9th and runs through December 8th.   Registration deadline is November 2nd.

    Hawkeye ASTD would like to offer it's members a no charge study group  facilitated by those who have been part of a study group in the past.  The study group will meet one day a week for 14-15 weeks starting the second week of August (the week of August 12th). 

    Please respond if you are interested in participating, what day of the week works best, where you you will be participating (Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Waterloo) by July 1.

    Once we know this information we will firm up the dates, times and locations for the study group.

    There are so many learning and development conferences, seminars, and certification programs offered each year. It can be a challenge to research them and then narrow down the options to those that meet both your development needs and your budget.

    Please post a comment to highlight your experience with a conference and whether you recommend participating, or a question you have for your colleagues who might have attended a specific program you are considering.

    On July 13, I will be facilitating a discussion around measuring and evaluating training for our monthly program meeting. As trainers, we have a huge responsiblity to ensure that what we teach in the classroom is implemented successfully when our participants return to work.  The respect that leadership, our peers and customers have for us as learning and workplace professionals is determined, in large part, by our ability to affect positive change.  We all know how difficult that can be!

    I'd love to engage in a discussion around your challenges, best practices and nagging questions regarding measuring and evaluating training. Please participate by posting how you evaluate the effectiveness of your training and workplace performance interventions?  How do you measure success? Do you have a best practice to share?  What answers do you need to help improve the return on investment of your training efforts?

    While Employee Learning Week isn't until December the Hawkeye ASTD Chapter is interested in any plans you have for your organization.  If you are willing to share, please do so here.  Also, what are your thoughts in having a local event - would your company have interest in participating?  In helping plan the event?

    Greetings Hawkeye Chapter Members.  Did you know that you can seek help with training questions, share best practices, or get ideas for your new project 24/7? 

    An internet forums (or message board) is an online discussions site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages.  You could think of it like a chat room, but the messages stay up when you leave the page, and everyone doesn't have to be online at the same time.

    We have a forum on this website especially for our members!  To make a post, or respond to a new post, you will have to sign in.  But anyone can browse the forum any time.

    Why not stop by today and join in the conversation?
