Preparing Your Organization for Immersive Reality in Learning

Destery Hildenbrand

For Learning and Development, organizations need to be aware of the new trends and technology available. XR (extended reality), which includes virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), is a set of new technologies that have started to take hold in learning and development. New technology, in general, can be a bit tricky to navigate due to the many considerations needed. Some things come to mind right away, including investment cost, upskilling your team, hiring someone new, adjusting your processes, and maybe most importantly, where do you start?

Learning Objectives:

In this session, we will:

                                • Define augmented, mixed, and virtual reality.
                                • Discuss what your organization will need to evaluate to use immersive technologies.
                                • Explore why you should start today with immersive reality and some best-fit use cases.
                                • Outline the needed skills, team structure, tools, and process adjustments needed for implementing.
                                • Review a successful pilot project plan to use as a guide to start an immersive project.
