Why do employees struggle at work? It's possible they are under-skilled, in over their heads, or intentionally giving poor effort. However, a more likely reason is that they just don't know what to do. A lack of clarity in the workplace is devastating: when you are unclear about what to do, you'll either freeze and do nothing, actively avoid the work by doing busy work or having unnecessary meetings, or take a wild risk just to do ANYTHING that might work. If leaders want to help their employees regain traction and get back to making progress, they need to define the impact they need their employees to make. Once employees understand the impact they need to make, they can be unleased to do their best work. BIOGRAPHY

Steve Ott is the founder and owner of Ott Leadership. He helps organizations achieve clarity and alignment to make a bigger impact. He does this through intentional development of leaders, culture, and strategy. His goal is to help organizations move from feeling overwhelmed and stuck to free and thriving.

Steve holds a Master's Degree in Transformational Leadership from Bethel University. Since 2019, he has worked with a wide variety of growing small and mid-sized organizations, from non-profits to  nationwide retailers. Steve resides in Davenport, Iowa, with his wife, two daughters, and a yellow lab named Marley.
