PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Creating an environment that helps learners feel safe is just as important to knowledge transfer as a visually pleasing presentation. As someone who made the transition from instructional design to interior decorating, I've found that both of these fields enjoy some of the same key principles. Just as we want to feel a safe space in our homes, learners also want to feel psychological safety to learn, practice, and get feedback without fear of being made fun of or criticized.

In this course, we will explore the fascinating intersection of interior design principles and the creation of psychologically safe learning environments, with a specific focus on online learning platforms such as webinars and e-learning modules. By the end of this course, you will not only gain a deeper understanding of how design impacts the learning experience but also learn practical strategies for designing and facilitating engaging, inclusive, and supportive online learning environments.

What's covered:

  • Room logistics
  • ILT: Lighting and mobility
  • E-learning: Online platform and web customization
  • Physical safety and well-being
  • Color psychology
  • Inclusive design
  • Feedback mechanisms

Objectives

  • Learn how to apply color psychology principles to create a calming and conducive learning environment.
  • Learn how to foster a supportive and respectful class environment that prioritizes learner well-being and mental health.
  • Explore ways to enhance comfort and accessibility for learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Develop practical skills and techniques for designing engaging, inclusive, and supportive spaces for learning.

Take a fun, but critical journey with me as I show you how to align the fundamentals of interior design with instructional design to create an engaging, psychologically safe learning environment in your presentations.

BIOGRAPHY

Chanta Rand is a visual presentation strategist with a craving for color, a love of layouts, and a fetish for form and function. She's the author of How to Be a Badass Instructional Designer, as well as the founder of DesignSlayers.com and Curriculum Queens, consulting services focused on visually appealing designs that help tell the data story. After emerging victorious from her battle with breast cancer in 2023, Chanta fulfilled her long-time passion of transitioning from instructional design to interior design. When she's not designing, she's globetrotting in search of exotic beaches and one-of-a-kind pieces for her staging business.
