Program Description

PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR THE L&D PROFESSIONAL
As Learning & Development professionals, we are constantly working on projects—whether it is   developing a new course, adapting an existing course, finding the right self-paced solution, rolling out the right training administration program, or hiring the right external supplier. It would be important to know project management tools and techniques if we were working on a single project full time. It is vital to know how to manage projects when we are working on multiple, complex programs, as today’s workload demands.

In this session we will discuss practical techniques to plan and organize any training project while controlling its time, cost, quality and scope. Topics will include building your project management plan step-by-step (creating the Work Breakdown Structure), scheduling and allocating resources, managing changes (everybody’s bug-bear), communicating project status, and performing a post-project review.

Presenter
Helena Long, Director of Human Resources for Jet Engineering Inc. and President-Elect for ATD Hawkeye. Helena has over 20 years of experience in Organization Development, Training and Human Resources including 10 years at Rockwell as their Manager of Strategic Planning and Organization Development and 5 years at Kinze Manufacturing as their Director of Human Resources/Learning & Development. Also, Helena has 13 years of consulting experience with Fortune 500 Companies, government organizations, banking institutions, non-profits, and in the medical community. Much of her consulting was focused on facilitating projects and teaching project management skills for enhanced performance while also preparing project managers to successfully achieve their PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
