Competitive Compensation Modeling

Andrew J. Vaughn

In this session, participants will examine the issues facing many existing compensation plans, learn the steps to develop a custom model, and ensure objective wage alignment and pay equity to attract and retain a highly competitive workforce.

Andrew's Bio:

Andrew J. Vaughn was named Chief Optimization Officer for Eastern Iowa Health Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in August 2022.  He began his career in the United States Army Reserves when he enlisted directly following his high school graduation, serving eight years with A Company, 389th Engineering Battalion in Iowa City, Iowa.  Andrew worked in leadership for more than a decade in insurance with a focus on training, human resources, and performance management.  He went on to hold additional HR leadership positions in electrical engineering and e-commerce industries before making the move to EIHC.  Andrew’s career has been focused on engaging employees and building meaningful culture in organizations.  His highest priority is to seek ways to genuinely advantage those around him. 

Andrew completed his education coursework while working full-time.  He holds his AAS in Management Development from Kirkwood Community College, his BBA in Business from Mount Mercy University, and his MBA from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business.  Andrew is a SHRM Certified Professional and holds training certifications from VitalSmarts Crucial Conversations and FranklinCovey.  He is the former President of ATD Hawkeye Chapter’s Board of Directors and is the Secretary for MEDCO’s Community Promise Board.  He has actively volunteered with Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa for more than 15 years.

Andrew and his family live in Ely, Iowa.  His wife, Kristin, is an artist and owner of Hillside Studio.  She specializes in handmade polymer clay earrings and expanded her online business by opening a retail store in Czech Village one year ago.  They have three children – Layla (17), Parker (13), and Will (13).  In his spare time, Andrew enjoys spending time watching the kids play sports, going to movies, reading, doing home projects, and riding his motorcycle.  He’s a lifelong Cubs fan and absolutely believes Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
